why: because it was a perfect Jonzeian? representation of the children's book I used to have to be on a waiting list for at my elementary school. I loved everything about it. Some people will probably think it's a little slow, especially since there are a lot of moments with little dialog or music at all... but it made me miss my Mom, so you know it's good. This is rated "absolutely." As Will Ferrell once said, "If you don't like it... fuck you."

Premature Infatuation - Where the Wild Things Are

why: There is so much to say about the anticipation of this movie, I don't even know where to start. We've all read the book. I remember fighting with kids in the elementary school library just to be on the waiting list to check out this book. Spike Jonze directing. An amazing, original soundtrack by Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and the Kids. And this kid Max Records is going to slay at the award shows, I'm telling you. I'm just really pumped all around to see it, and I don't know how much longer I can wait.
