why: maybe it's just me... but these are pretty much fail-proof.

New Release Tuesday - February 23
[01.]
Electric President - 'The Violent Blue'
tf: fasho.
What's new to me may not be new to you... this is their third full-length release, but the first that I've had the pleasure of listening to. Down-tempo beautiful melodies. Acoustic strings covered by ambient tones, piano keys and harmonies. An addicting vocal style like some sort of combination between Ben Gibbard and Andy Hull (atleast that's what I'm getting). Point is, get this album. Like now.
[02.]
Alkaline Trio - 'This Addiction'
tf: aight.
These guys are getting old. This is their 7th full-length album in a little more than a decade, but unlike most bands - they keep writing good stuff. If you're a die-hard fan of the band, you've had this album for months since it leaked... and if you're not that big a fan, you probably won't really think it's anything that great. It's probably my favorite album they've put out since 'From Here to the Infirmary' in 2001... the band's gone through some really tough shit and they're finally getting it out in this release.
[03.]
Fang Island - 'Fang Island'
tf: ehhh.
Don't really have too much to say about this album... they have some pretty cool, weird instrumentation that's fun for a few tracks, but I don't really see myself listening to the entire thing any time soon.
Attention! - Where the Ocean Meets the Sky
who: Where the Ocean Meets the Sky
why: because their debut EP 'Sexy!' was released practically unnoticed last year, and it was a shame because it's awesome. A lot of people complain that these genres are overpopulated with bad bands trying to get big through myspace, and they're probably right, but but these guys are an exception to the rule. Someone needs to sign them quick.

WE'LL DO IT ACOUSTIC! - Alkaline Trio
who: Alkaline Trio
why: have been around forever, and unlike a lot of bands - they keep putting out good tunes.
LMAO - Straight Owned
who: Kimbo Slice's grandpa
why: also has a sweet beard. When he rides the subway, he doesn't care what you look like. He's not prejudiced. He'll kick the shit out of anyone.

Premature Infatuation - Get Him to the Greek
who: Jonah Hill, Russell Brand, Aziz Ansari, Nick Kroll
why: because it's a spin-off of Russell's character from 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' co-written by Jason Segel, so you know it's gonna be good. Check it out in theaters JUNE 4TH.Friday, February 19, 2010
Watch Out - Vampire Weekend
who: Vampire Weekend
why: have released a celebrity-littered video for "Giving Up the Gun" off of this year's 'Contra'.
Friday Flashback - My Bloody Valentine
who: My Bloody Valentine
why: because I saw this sweet series of video clips from the film 'Lost In Translation' set to their song "Sometimes" on my friend mcnotjt's tumblr and had to post it. Enjoy.
VOTW - February 19, 2010
who: Local Natives
why: because I've been talking about these guys for weeks, and if you've somehow still managed to ignore them, here's another opportunity for you to bask in their glory. This is a home video released on the band's blog set to their song "Wide Eyes". GO GET THEIR ALBUM!
