Attention! - Titus Andronicus

why: because they've been around since 2005, but they're new to me. I've just run through my first listen of this year's release 'The Monitor', and I can already tell it's going to grow on me. Think Desaparecidos meets Japandroids meets Silversun Pickups... or something like that. This album, inspired by the puzzling combination of the Civil War and a broken heart, is already on its way to making a run for album of the year in my book.

why: are the shit. I was really pumped when I heard they made a video for this song ("Generator ^ 2nd Floor"). It's one of the best singles I've heard in a long time - definitely my choice for last year's song of the year (maybe tied with Manchester Orchestra's "I Can Feel a Hot One")... but either way check out the new vid.
