THE TEN

Let's face it... Being an awful studier has made me a great procrastinator. In one hour I will be taking the last final exam of my college career, and while I should definitely be studying - I'd rather remember caring more about music than my grades. Here's the latest installment of my RYM lists - THE TEN. albums that I would recommend to anyone. There was a time when I probably wouldn't have liked any of these albums... and now they're my all-time faves. Let yourself be surprised.

Where's your list?

VOTW - May 12, 2010

who: Local Natives

why: just recently debuted their new video for "World News" on Pitchfork... I just love this band, there's not much else to say.

Bundle Up - B.o.B.

who: Tyler Ward ft. Eppic

why: YouTubers, ftw. This video's a little bit overproduced, but still awesome.

WE'LL DO IT ACOUSTIC! - The Dangerous Summer

who: The Dangerous Summer

why: because I haven't posted anything in awhile... been kinda busy. This is the first thing I've seen in some time I felt was worth posting. If you don't know The Dangerous Summer... think of a more layered and technical version of The Starting Line. I like em.

Attention! - Los Campesinos!

who: Los Campesinos!
why: because they're from the U.K. and say things like "fanks" when they mean "thanks"... No, in all seriousness these guys have taken over my ears lately. I just can't get enough.

If you watch/listen to the video/song below and aren't impressed, give the album a few listens anyway, it's a grower fashower. I had the same "ehh... whatever" impressions when I first checked them out a while back - didn't really get the interest - but I'm all over it now.

You're lookin at a new #1 for 2010.

VOTW - April 24, 2010

who: Our Last Night

why: because it seems like really young, extremely talented metalcore bands are popping up left and right, and OLN's 2010 release ' We Will All Evolve' is goooood.

Our Last Night - "Elephants"

Bundle Up - You, Me and Everyone We Know

who: You, Me and Everyone We Know

why: cover one of the best songs of all time... I seriously love this song, haha.

Check out another version of the song from the always adorable Julia Nunes right hurr.

Mash Up - BrentonRules

who: BrentonRules

why: because I stumbled across this dude's soundcloud page and liked what I heard. Click on his name and check out some songz.

Ambien (Sleepy Trip) by BrentonRules

A Million Apologies by BrentonRules

LMAO! - Wicked Clownz

who: ICP
why: are a fucking joke.

WE'LL DO IT ACOUSTIC! - Circa Survive

who: Circa Survive

why: love him or hate him - Anthony Green is the Gd man. Watch em rip a 19 minute acoustic session for Shockhound here.

00:00 - "Get Out"

04:30 - "Strange Terrain"

09:14 - "Dumb" (Nirvana cover)

12:00 - "In Fear and Faith"

16:40 - "Meet Me In Montauk"

Premature Infatuation - The Other Guys

who: Will Ferrell, Mark Wahlberg, Samuel L. Jackson
why: ...it's Mark fucking Wahlberg. The Other Guys will be released August 6th.

Bundle Up - Team Coco

who: Conan O'Brien

why: performs a naturally hilarious rendition of Radiohead's "Creep". I miss the shit out of you Coco... hope TBS doesn't kill you. It even sounds like a disease...

Attention! - Titus Andronicus

who: Titus Andronicus

why: because they've been around since 2005, but they're new to me. I've just run through my first listen of this year's release 'The Monitor', and I can already tell it's going to grow on me. Think Desaparecidos meets Japandroids meets Silversun Pickups... or something like that. This album, inspired by the puzzling combination of the Civil War and a broken heart, is already on its way to making a run for album of the year in my book.

tf: absolutely.

Premature Infatuation - B.o.B.

who: B.o.B. ft. Hayley Williams (Paramore)

why: because she went hip-hop, and I kinda like it. Anyone else? B.o.B's album 'B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray' drops April 27th.

B.o.B - Airplanes ft. Hayley Williams of Paramore [Explicit] by Atlantic Records

WE'LL DO IT FOR THE KIDS!

who: Beach House and Fang Island

why: keep em off the street with music. God knows we don't need more kindergarteners smoking pots.

VOTW - April 9, 2010

who: Freelance Whales

why: are the shit. I was really pumped when I heard they made a video for this song ("Generator ^ 2nd Floor"). It's one of the best singles I've heard in a long time - definitely my choice for last year's song of the year (maybe tied with Manchester Orchestra's "I Can Feel a Hot One")... but either way check out the new vid.

WE'LL DO IT ACOUSTIC!

Suck it Dex, this is a pretty solid live version.

Watch Out - Letting Up

who: Letting Up Despite Great Faults

why: because I'm digging the whole shoegaze, electrically-buzzy genre lately and these guys do it best. This WAS going to be tomorrow's video of the week, but it got replaced... which means you're in for a treat tomorrow. With that said, this video is adorable.

Watch Out - Circa Survive

who: Circa Survive

why: have released the first video off of their soon to be released 'Blue Sky Noise' for "Get Out". I can't wait to hear this album. Get it in stores April 20th or preorder it here.

Premature Infatuation - Dinner for Schmucks

who: Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, Zach Galifianakis

why: because I missed Brick from Anchorman. And now he's back. Coming to theaters July 23rd.

Watch Out - Weezer

who: Weezer

why: have posted a new video for "I'm Your Daddy" from last year's 'Raditude'. Weezer F Baby.
