Watch Out - Valencia

who: Valencia
why: I like the direction I've been heading lately in posting about new videos and music, and the trend continues with Valencia's new video for "Carry On" from their 2008 release 'We All Need a Reason to Believe' that was posted recently on their myspace.

Read All About It - I Set My Friends On Fire

who: I Set My Friends On Fire
why: because you either hate them, or love them. There's really no in between. They just recently put up a new song titled "Four Years Foreplay" and I can't help it - I love how terrible and terribly catchy it is at the same time. Check it out on their MYSPACE HERE.

Watch Out - Portugal. The Man

who: Portugal. The Man
why: just released their first video from 'The Satanic Satanist', "Do You" and it's preeeetty trippy.

Read All About It - Kanye West is a Meme

who: sxephil (Philip DeFranco) and Kanye West
why: If you don't know sxephil, he has a Youtube channel that's basically like a college student's popular culture Daily Show in 4 minutes a day. So recently, as you would expect, he's been talking a lot about Kanye West. He found all these pictures that people have edited making fun of Kanye's remarks, and even though I almost feel bad for him, you should see these cuz it's funny to laugh at others' expense, right?

That took forever.

LMAO - "Toxicity" on Violins

who: Three good looking girls.
why: No... not because it's funny they're playing "Toxicity" on violins... but rather because it's funny that it's better than the original.

Premature Infatuation - Brand New

who: Brand New
why: is streaming Daisy! Punknews.org claims this will only be a two day event, so act while you can and get a sneak preview of the crazily anticiapted new album.

Eargasm: The Glass Ocean - Put On the Wooden Overcoat EP

who: The Glass Ocean
why: I love when independent bands put out ridiculously good music and it finally gets around to me a year later. Keller Harbin (former vocalist for Every Time I Die and The Chariot) wisely chose to team up with Joshua Beiser (former bassist for The Chariot) to create this post-hardcore ensemble that has sincerely been blowing my mind recently, and you need to check them out. Their 2008 release 'Put on the Wooden Overcoat' is the EP I'm speaking of, and you can, and should DEFINITELY, pick it up here for only $5. As of right now, they've rushed to the top of my list of albums for 2008 to #3 behind The Fall of Troy and Right Away Great Captain!, so it's safe to say they're in good company. Some people aren't so quick to jump on a 5-song EP as I am, but I'd take a short masterpiece over a drawn-out album any day.

Rating: absolutely.

New Release Tuesday - September 15th, 2009

who: Every Time I Die | Moneen | Muse
why: Every Time I Die's new release 'New Junk Aesthetic' has been getting some pretty big hype lately, and although they're not one of my favorite bands, it's shaping up to be my release of the week. Buy an autographed copy here for only $10 or stream it here for free.

Moneen's anticipated album 'The World I Want to Leave Behind' is their fourth release, and their follow up of 'The Red Tree' in 2006. You can visit their myspace for a few tunes and get the record here if you like what you hear.

Lastly, we have Muse. I've taken a preview at their new album 'The Resistance' and I just don't like it. Musically, it sounds a bit repetitive and more industrial than even Muse needs to be, and some of the lyrics on it are just unoriginal. Die hards will probably still love this album, and Muse will probably always be one of the most influential bands of my time - I'm just not feelin this take. Get the album here.

LMAO - Kanye's a douchebag.

who: Kanye West
why: he's a douchebag. Don't ask me why, but I was watching the MTV VMAs and literally the first award was given to Taylor Swift for Best Female Video. So I'm not the biggest fan of her music, but she seems like a sweetheart and the look on her face when she won was sincere and adorable, so I was happy to see her win. Anyways... she gets up on stage to give her acceptance speech and fucking douchetool Kanye strolls up unannounced, takes the mic from poor Taylor and proclaims, "Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!". Thankfully, he didn't win any awards for the rest of the night I don't think, and people were booing the hell out of him. Less than a few hours after I saw that go down, a friend showed me this video.
